Dear Representative Huizenga,
I’m writing to urge you to oppose ICE’s ongoing attacks on both immigrants and citizens and hold this administration accountable for their authoritarian and unlawful tactics. I ask that you: demand full investigations into ICE’s use of deadly force against protesters and their murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, conduct public investigations into the DOJ’s coordinated protection of ICE agents from criminal liability, and call for the impeachment of Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security.
Thank you.

Dear Senator Peters / Slotkin,
I’m writing to urge you to oppose ICE’s ongoing attacks on both immigrants and citizens and hold this administration accountable for their authoritarian and unlawful tactics.
Please defund ICE by opposing any appropriations bill that maintains ICE funding and supporting legislation that claws back the $75 billion ICE slush fund created by H.R. 1 last year. This lawless agency is violently attacking and killing immigrants and citizens around the country and must be defunded and dissolved for good.
Thank you.
Here is Rep. Huizenga’s response, received March 11, 2026:
Dear Rev. Arthur,
Thank you for contacting me with your concerns regarding President Trump’s policies on immigration and border security. I always appreciate hearing from constituents and welcome this opportunity to respond.
In his first 100 days, the Trump Administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 2,288 gang members, 1,329 sex offenders, 498 murderers, and another 17,516 with convictions or charges of assault, DWI/DUI, and weapons offenses. In this same timeframe, daily border encounters decreased by 95% to record lows, 5,000 unaccompanied children were reunited with their loved ones, and more than 200,000 pounds of deadly drugs were seized.
Just over a year since taking office, federal officials have shared that no illegal immigrant has been released into the U.S. interior for more than eight months, over 10,000 individuals with narco-terrorism ties have been stopped from crossing our borders, and more than 60,000 migrant children have been saved from trafficking.
Our nation has a rich history of immigration, especially in Southwest Michigan. This can and should continue, but it must be done through the proper legal channels. Additionally, I understand many have raised concerns regarding the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). When tragedies, such as recently in Minnesota, unfold, we must join together as Americans to call for lowering the temperature of rhetoric and for all to respect the rule of law. I am heartened that improved intergovernmental coordination and a restructuring of enforcement have occurred since President Trump assigned White House Border Czar, Tom Homan, to the area.
More recently, I met with Mr. Homan and a group of fellow lawmakers to discuss immigration enforcement. I was pleased there was agreement in principle between this group of lawmakers and Mr. Homan that enforcement should remain focused on individuals who pose the greatest threat to public safety, cooperation between federal and local authorities should be upheld to prevent the improper release of dangerous criminals back into our communities, sanctuary city policies undermine lawful immigration enforcement, and that there should be clear communication between ICE, the American public, and Congress regarding its activities to deport the worst, most serious criminals.
As these immigration enforcement actions continue, or are even litigated in the courts, I will keep your thoughts in mind should any related legislation come before the House for a vote.
Again, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me, and please do not hesitate to do so in the future. To stay up to date with the latest news on our work in Congress, you may sign up at huizenga.house.gov/forms/emailsignup/ to receive my e-newsletter, the Huizenga Huddle.
