It has me wondering what parts of the Body I try to reject. While I have no problem sharing Christ's table with the queer, with the outcast, I have to ask myself... How do I respond to sharing it with a cop, or a soldier, or others who build their lives on violence? I'm not nearly as comfortable then. I wonder what that says about me. I think as a gay pastor of a church composed mostly of LGBT people, you are a perfect reminder to us that queer theology is already happening, the LGBT-faith conversation is already happening, we are already here, many of us have never left. I see lots of well-intentioned straight folks these days who want to really make sure I know there is room in Christianity for me, that I don't need to give up on Jesus. I know! I've been here all along. And Jesus quite possible saved my life while I was working to make sense of queerness. I'd love to tell you about that :) Great contribution! Great post.
