June Meeting

The Faith Alliance had its June meeting today, June 9, 2011.

Besides catching up on community news, we discussed our plans for Pride this Saturday, June 11.  Pride starts at 2pm at the Arcadia Creek Festival Site in downtown Kalamazoo.  Several of our member churches will have information tables.  Please stop by and get more info about the churches and about the Faith Alliance.

Planning for a fall film series about LGBTQ issues and Religion is also proceeding.  We will be targeting October 11 for the first movie.  Hopes are to show four movies total with a panel discussion after each.  More information will be forthcoming as it’s finalized.  This promises to be an exciting event!

The next Faith Alliance meeting will be on August 11, 2011.

Thank you!

Many thanks to all of those who attended the American Prayer Hour at First Methodist Church on February 1, 2011!  Thanks to you we had a great event that helped raise awareness of the plight of GLBT people in Uganda and the role played there in encouraging the infamous “kill the gays bill” by the sponsors (“The Family”) of the annual National Prayer Breakfast.  See http://www.americanprayerhour.org/ for more information.

An article about the breakfast appeared in the Kalamazoo Gazette:  http://www.mlive.com/living/kalamazoo/index.ssf/2011/01/first_american_prayer_hour_bre.html
